We are looking for an Automation Consultant to support and optimize operations at fully automated container terminals using Terminal Operating Systems (TOS) such as Navis N4 and related automation platforms. The role involves monitoring automated terminal performance, analyzing operational data, identifying issues across automation systems, and driving continuous operational improvements.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
Monitor live automated terminal operations across vessel, yard, gate, and rail through Navis N4 and automation systems.
Monitor the health and performance of automated equipment, including Automated Stacking Cranes (ASC), Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV), Automated Rail Mounted Gantry Cranes (ARMG), Quay Cranes (QC), and related automation interfaces.
Analyze system alerts, automation events, and operational data to proactively identify issues and bottlenecks.
Prepare weekly and monthly reports on automation performance, equipment utilization, productivity, and operational KPIs.
Investigate automation incidents and coordinate with terminal operations, automation vendors, and IT teams to resolve issues.
Analyze equipment movement patterns and recommend process improvements to increase terminal efficiency.
Support testing, validation, and deployment of automation enhancements without impacting live operations.
Collaborate with multiple automated terminals to standardize operational practices and optimize automation workflows.
Track automation KPIs and recommend improvements for equipment productivity, turnaround time, and system reliability.
Support root cause analysis (RCA) for automation failures and recommend preventive actions.
💡 Key Competencies and Skills
5+ years of experience in automated container terminal operations or automation support.
Strong knowledge of Navis N4, ECN4, and automated Terminal Operating Systems.
Good understanding of automated terminal architecture and workflows.
Experience working with automation systems involving ASC, AGV, ARMG, QC, and related control systems.
Familiarity with automation interfaces such as Equipment Control System (ECS), Yard Control System (YCS), PLC integrations, and messaging interfaces.
Strong understanding of container terminal operations and automated equipment workflows.
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to interpret operational data and identify optimization opportunities.
Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across operations, IT, and automation vendors.
Ability to work independently in a remote, multi-terminal environment.
